Forerunner Films began in 2013, as a D.I.Y. independent film production company in New York City, and has since expanded to international offices in Bruxelles, Belgium as of 2023. Founded by Justin Ambrosino, Forerunner Films is a bridge between international co-productions, helping to produce creative projects with interesting voices. There is no content creation or branding here - the company's philosophy is to contribute to a diverse body of artistic expressions on-screen and behind the scenes, and the only constant being making moving images with new and old friends. Relationships matter as much as the art.
A mix of auteur, genre and commercial cinema, Justin Ambrosino has produced over a dozen awarding-winning shorts, features, and music videos for directors such as Barbara Stepansky, Shana Betz, as well as upcoming films by César Díaz and Mayumi Yoshida. His work qualified for the Oscars Best Short category, and was distributed by Vertical Entertainment, Amazon, Apple TV and P.B.S., as well as screened at various festivals around the world such as the Bermuda International Film Festival, Rhode Island International Film Festival and Sapporo Shorts Fest. His projects have been selected for the Panavision Young Filmmakers Grant, N.Y. Foundation of the Arts Grant, Torino Film Labs, BIFFF Pitchbox, Ventana Sur, Blood Window and others.
Justin Ambrosino is also Executive Producer and Co-Founder of 20STM PICTURES, a Belgian animation production company with a tv series, "Mega-Pals" (created by Justin Ambrosino), in-development with RTBF, as well as Laura Janssens' "Hamsters" (produced by Haptic Studios and 20stm), recently released on STREAMZ. Ambrosino is also the COO of ESSIST - a personal, professional accelerator website and social media platform that connects aspiring entrepreneurs with successful mentors and provides financial support to transform ideas into reality.
